Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Shout to Everyone with a Chrome Soma!

A buddy of mine is looking to get a new bag for riding. We both ride to-from work and are geeky web developer folk so laptops are coming along for the ride too. I have a big ass chrome bag right now and just throw my laptop in a sleeve and pray I don't fall onto it... but he's looking into getting the Soma bag.

The website doesn't go into too much detail on the laptops that will fit in the bag, so I wanted to hear from anyone riding out there with one, the kind of laptop that you stow in it. He has a new macbook pro.

Also, any other commentary re: this bag would be great, he's still on the fence

Thanks guys

I just noticed that the shot Chrome has on their website (the only photo of the inside of the bag) is of an old Power Book inside the Soma. As long as your friend has a 15" and not a 17" it should fit like a glove.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of laptop specific bags, but that one seems about as good as they get.

i have a crumpler i use for my macbook pro. fits perfectly. i don't really take it on my bike though. i am to paranoid i will fall be be out $2000+ from my laptop. but my mac fits like a glove. i don't remember the model i have, i can look, but it was the second biggest one at the time, and they gave the measurements in terms of mac lap tops and what would fit in each bag. and well they flat out said this bag will fit a 17" macbook pro, and damn they must have made that bag specifically for my computer.

not that this really helps but the laptop i am currently posting this from was in a really bad over the handlebars crash once and it still works fine. It was just in my cheap backpack with some books.
