Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? anyone ever MAKE a frame?

Im bored and definitley don't need another bike. but, i feel building a bike would be damn cool. I have plenty of parts lying around, and between my equipment and the school's, i should be able to make a sick lugged frame. cost of parts is about $250 for all materials, + another 75 for powdercoat.

what are the options for a lugged bike? i know soma makes one with a more relaxed geometry (delancy?)
something with polished lugs is much preferred. I doubt i can find what i want for less than $400, but by all means, if you have a line on something please let me know.

ask over in the framebuilders' forum. Also search the framebuilders archives on bikelist.org.

Lots of options. Here's something to play around with while you consider your options.
