Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I love this!!

I made myself a fixed gear conversion over my Christmas break, and had tons of fun learning to ride it for the short time I was home. When I headed back to school I shipped it to myself but the cold Michigan winter weather made it hard to get motivated to put it back together and ride again. Anyway, after much time off, I finally got it road worthy last night and went for a spin. It was great! I still have a long way to go in terms of becoming a more confident rider, but it was so great to rediscover the quite and efficient joys of a fixed gear. I'm having a blast with this! Just had to share.

I can't wait to go fixed, I've been riding single-speed most of my life. Maybe I'll learn to love the control I'll have over my bike when I switch to fixed.
