Damn those are rad. What can I say, I'm easily impressed. Fat tires and a few odds/ends looks like the perfect winter bike or backroads cruiser.
|
RichPugh, your steamroller is awesome.
I'm pretty excited to post pictures of my creamroller build soon. |
Uh oh! I'm about to bust out a new thread for the crosscheck owners now since Surly allows some great builds to be built! :<D
|
There are some mighty fine rollers in here. This is one of my favorites

I used a metal paint scraper to get the decals off. The powdercoat is tough as nails ! No chips, no marks.. nothing.:crash:

Now this is the nicest Steamroller I have ever seen. Damn! |

Anybody have one of those older threaded fork Steamrollers? When did they switch to threadless? They look awesome. Just saw this one on craigslist: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/bik/1063725994.html |

I'm seriously considering the following, tell me if I'm crazy:
Cross-check with rear disc hub. Theoretically, with one wheel (and two chains), I could run 1x9, 1x1 with a SS spacer kit, and put a bolt-on cog on the disc mount to run it fixed. Thoughts? Am I missing something here? Would the chainline be all effed up? |
Xcheck has no rear disk mount. You can do a karate monkey like that though
|
No, I was planning on using cantis and using the disc mount on the HUB for something like this: http://www.velosolo.co.uk/pictures/dscn4351a.jpg
|
Oh, then you probably could work it out then. would be interesting to say the least :thumb:
|
I think the spacing/offset of the wheel wouldn't be the same from side to side. Thus you wouldnt be able to flip it from fixed to freewheel sides.
|
Through a lengthy series of trades my Steamroller evolved into a Crosscheck.
I do miss it a ton though. Ignore the handsome devil on it: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_ZlYG6O9DVkU/SQ...2/IMG_6105.JPG |
