Rounded out the fleet for the foreseeable future this weekend when my Roller arrived. Funny the poster above mentioned green bikes. This is definitely a pee/spicy mustard yellow color outside but takes on an almost green hue when sitting in my apartment under lower light. It's since be de-logo'd and looks even better that way imo.

Overall satisfied with Surly's complete components. Where I wasn't there was an immediate swap as you can see. May try some different saddles and tire sizes but overall - :thumb:

Oh trust me I do! I've since put on some 32 Victoria Pros (which look like 28mm) and I have had to force myself to stop skidding on pavement because I ripped through my last Rando in about 2 weeks, but I enjoyed every second of it! I'm loving my build so far. Just put a reissue Turbo seat on, which felt like an ass hatchet at first and took a few days to dial in right. Next up will be a new stem and bars and then some new cranks. My Truvativ cranks are better than the Retrospec cranks I was using before I knew better, but the Power Spline Bottom Bracket is garbage.

Love me some Drink More Water Yellow Steamroller action. Currently rolling on some 25 AW1s, but I'm excited to throw some 32s on it.

sorry for the **** photos, wont let me post URLs. New Omniums with a All city pursuit 47t ring. New FSA mtb bars. 35c Vittoria on the back and a 32c on the front. This bike is a blast to ride!

Carcosa 08-30-17 01:38 PM

Get you a chrome stem stat! Dig it man.

KogSnob 08-30-17 08:31 PM

I was out at my LBS today to get one but instead got a used black Ritchey setback seat post for $15 bucks!

Why? Now you're gonna have to get new cranks and rims! Matchy Matchy!

I want one built up with all kinds of obnoxiously colored anodized parts.

Big Pond 10-06-17 05:49 AM

I dig it! It’s change of pace to see something leaving the surly factory that doesn’t look like a bodily emission. So bonus points for that.

the sci guy 10-10-17 08:14 AM

whats the name of the color? it looks like army khaki? or is it silverish?

Scrodzilla 10-10-17 08:42 AM

Surly calls it Ministry Grey. It's like a metallic silver with a satin finish.

one of the few builds where mismatched seatpost & stem look great, nicely done!

johnnytheboy 10-11-17 09:57 PM

sick. looks like you coulda sized up some tho.

Philasteve 10-11-17 10:32 PM

My Surly with my dumb self on it. I just switched from clipless back to GR-9's with All City plastic doubles, not disappointed. That yellow build like 3 posts up is mean too.

This is an awesome build but I've got to admit, the mix of silver & black parts makes my inner Baby Jesus cry a little.

Once I put the black Sugino ring on the 600 crankset there was no looking back...hail Satan.

How do you like that Flite saddle? I've been thinking of trying one out in place of my Turbo.

I have a Turbo on my old Cannondale city bike and Flites on a couple bikes. The Flite is definitely narrower and firmer than the Turbo. I love it, great for bikes with a more aggressive position. Favorite saddle of all time.

TMonk 10-15-17 09:33 PM

I love the Flite as well.

The mural is at Saturday Cycles, one of the better bike shops in Salt Lake City. (In fact, it's perhaps the best small bike shop in northern Utah.)

This Steamroller is one of my very favorite bikes. We've spent a lot of quality time together lately.
