Are carbon forks bad for tricks
I have an oppertunity to get a track bike at a very good price, but it has a carbon fork and tubular tires, I'll probablly end up replacing the rims, I don't feel like skidding through $$ of tubular tires, but is a carbon fork bad for tricks or not?
|
yes, they are terrible for tricks.
|
if you do it anyway, post pics of your dental work, stitches and possible neutering.
Or just buy a cheap bike for stunts/playtime/recess and ride the nice bike for RealRides. or did I just take the bait of a troll..? |
no they are great for tricks, the little cracks that form are also great for dampening vibration.

I feel like someone's going to jump out from behind the bushes and whack me with a bat for reading this thread. Am I just an old school bike Luddite now? Sounds like the whole bike was setup for the velodrome, cheaper to get a crap street fixie built up for your needs.
Carbon Fork = NOT FOR TRICKIN' |
Carbon fiber is for high disposable income yuppie scum bags. Carbon fiber is also one of the worst materials for the environment.
The yuppy scumbags over on the road forum think I am being discriminatory of them because I make clear that steel is the least toxic of all bicycle materials. Its not fiction, it is fact. If you want to be an idiot go ahead. How can it be a good deal if you need new rims and a fork? |

ModernDivo I recommend that you reconsider both this bike project and your affiliation with Amway, whose get-rich-quick MLM scheme you're advertising in your avatar. Get a cheap steel IRO or whatever from Dream if you want to do tricks, don't smash up a nice race machine. And if you want to make money then go to school, study hard and get a real job.
