Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Are carbon forks bad for tricks

I have an oppertunity to get a track bike at a very good price, but it has a carbon fork and tubular tires, I'll probablly end up replacing the rims, I don't feel like skidding through $$ of tubular tires, but is a carbon fork bad for tricks or not?

if you do it anyway, post pics of your dental work, stitches and possible neutering.

Or just buy a cheap bike for stunts/playtime/recess and ride the nice bike for RealRides.

or did I just take the bait of a troll..?

no they are great for tricks, the little cracks that form are also great for dampening vibration.

All good rides have tricks. Please post photos of your teeth after not doing tricks.

I feel like someone's going to jump out from behind the bushes and whack me with a bat for reading this thread. Am I just an old school bike Luddite now? Sounds like the whole bike was setup for the velodrome, cheaper to get a crap street fixie built up for your needs.

Carbon Fork = NOT FOR TRICKIN'

Carbon fiber is for high disposable income yuppie scum bags. Carbon fiber is also one of the worst materials for the environment.

The yuppy scumbags over on the road forum think I am being discriminatory of them because I make clear that steel is the least toxic of all bicycle materials. Its not fiction, it is fact.

If you want to be an idiot go ahead. How can it be a good deal if you need new rims and a fork?

Is your bike made of hemp and recycled shopping bags?
Signed, scummy idiot.

My bike is made out of stem cells steel and mango juice.

But carbon in a bike frame is carbon not in our atmosphere! I offset the emissions I produce from driving to races by buying a Cervelo.

Uh, you're being a bit harsh. A little bit of carbon fiber is not that bad for the environment. Not compared to the cars, motorcycles, etc that most people drive. I have a road bike w/ carbon fiber seat stays, fork, and seatpost and I'm not a rich yuppie scumbag. Honestly, you sound like a cliche stereotypical fixed gear rider. Besides, if you didn't have any disposable income than you probably wouldn't be on a bike forum and spending cash on your bike.

SERIOUSLY. Fixed gears are absolute CRAP for tricks. I have never seen a trick on a fixed gear that impressed me except for the fixed gear spin. Get a BMX bike if you want to do tricks.

ModernDivo I recommend that you reconsider both this bike project and your affiliation with Amway, whose get-rich-quick MLM scheme you're advertising in your avatar. Get a cheap steel IRO or whatever from Dream if you want to do tricks, don't smash up a nice race machine. And if you want to make money then go to school, study hard and get a real job.

Haha, I love how everyone was commenting on how trollish/stupid the OP was until this came along and surpassed it.

Protip: Ever see the inside of a steel mill? It's like a giant fuming industrial Hell.
