i'm just waiting on a wheel build and a few parts from ebay for my first ss\fg build

frame and forks: pake 53 ( the worst of the bunch ) black

wheels: phil wood highs in 32 h, laced 3x with black dt DB spokes to black swiss dt rims

crank and BB: 70's vintage sugino mighty 171's with a 48t mighty comp chain ring ( i am polishing them up now) and a sugino super lap BB

bars and stem: nitto b200aa flat bar in black and a KTB mountain 2 bolt stem in polished alloy ( with Ti bolts i had laying around )

seat and post: white san marco regal ti and some full carbon stem ( might get a nice polished nitto one though )

pedals: right now white wellgo MG-1 mags but i think i'm gona get a set of vintage
NJS MKS UNIQUE ROYALs and some nice straps...

brakes: ULTEGRA 6500 XE up front and a nice little pauls e lever

head set: chirs king black 1" threadless

lots of black, polished alloy with a white seat and grips...

will post picks once i get the wheels back from my wheel guy!!

will post pics

ADSR 03-08-09 03:16 AM

Pics! Sounds expensive. I'm curious to see how it turns out.

sugarkane 03-08-09 03:24 AM

will do as soon as i get all the bits together...
i sold a very trick and nice bmx in parts on ebay ( with enough Ti to start your own aerospace program) which has paid for 75% of this build ( this one still comes in as $1000 cheaper than the bmx)
and i have been lucky/patient on ebay and got what i wanted for what i wanted to pay!!
the phil woods cost me $250 US which is $250 cheaper than you could get em any where in australia and i think the sugino mighty's cost me around $50 US...

can't wait to get it rolling

time bandit 03-08-09 08:09 AM

personally would have put on some less expensive components at first and went for a nicer frame istead of the "worst of the bunch" pake.

i guess you could always move the parts over to a nicer frame, but who wants to put used parts on a nice frame?

HandsomeRyan 03-08-09 08:24 AM

That's a nice collection of parts. Good luck w/ the build. We expect to see pics of the completed bike.

got my msk unique royals today and my new stem!!! as you can see the royals are polishing up pretty nice
just have to find some clips and straps for em!!

as for the stem... the Ti hard ware i have lying around fits quite nicely but bens cycles in milwaukee ( quite a long way from me in sydney ) sent me a stem with the wrong face plate.!! they sent me a 26mm one which will not hold my nitto flat bar with out shimming and i don't wana get my shim on!
so at least the face plate has to travel half way round the world and they gota send me a new one!

same thing with the pauls lever i got thats in the post back to the USA cause i needed a 22.3mm clamp and they were outa stock so i got a 23.8mm ... hmmm more waiting!
the lever i can live with out the stem is another matter!

ohh well when things gota be just right you gota wait sometimes

anything but kashimax or gold plated toshis would let down all the other components, save the pake.

If the auzzie dollor picks it act up a bit that is the way to go!! Right now such a set of straps would cost me $200+ and for a few inchs of leather that's a lot of coin !! ( 1/4 of what an alien frame would cost me landed
I might cheap out for now but that will change in good time
Getting rolling in the mission right now should be another week for parts from the USA

hmmm shes 9.3kgs or 20.5lbs in old money...

bike porn/porn couch??

xB_Nutt 04-02-09 04:39 AM

Wow, that came out nice. I would put a silver Nitto seatpost on it and call it a day. You should also look around for a nice old road frame with horizontal dropouts. Those parts would make for a very nice conversion.

sugarkane 04-02-09 04:54 AM

looking at a nice shamino NJS post and i have a friend going to japan later in the year whos a fix head
gona try and get a few kerin frames...

craigcraigcraig 04-06-09 10:17 AM

looks nice, that chain looks beeeeeeeeeeffy.

urodacus 04-06-09 10:24 AM

nice bucket! nice build too.

good to see you're rocking a brake.

ersatz 04-06-09 01:13 PM

that is a pretty wide handlebar.

how is the saddle?

sugarkane 04-06-09 01:25 PM

the saddle is pretty sweet just doesn't like my fav black jeans so much
The bars are 500 mm wide and feel pretty good, I'm to old for super narrow bars!

adriano 04-06-09 03:36 PM

its time to upgrade the frame!

sugarkane 04-06-09 06:11 PM

In september a mate is going to japan so a kerin frame set could be a go!
