Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Can we at LEAST agree to ban the first person who talks about the lateral stiffness of their moped?

the beefy floorboards on my vespa make it laterally stiff and vertically compliant.

Frankly when it comes to mopeds I think torsional reactivity is the really important metric.

a little about the TX-900 :
The TX900 was the early top-of-the-line frameset, dating from 1976 to mid 1978. The Columbus tubing, racing geometry, and fastback seat stays were characteristic of this model

so far i'm loving it..
DID I DO GOOD GEORGE .. paid $25 for the frame and maybe $250 for the rest.. and i know this frame is supposed to be a bit special considering Trek opened there doors in 1976 and this was a hand made Columbus tubing frame made within there first 2 years .. Campy cranks .. strong-light headset, Cellini stem/handlebars , .. then it goes down hill my pocket book had a failure ... somewhat generic coaster-brake wheel set... generic seat etc.. but none the less a real fun ride...

Put on my bullhorns today.

The ride is much more comfy! They are the Profile T2 winged, so they are flat on the top of the bar. I wasn't sure how i'd like it but after a few very cold miles today i do not mind riding on the flat at all. Its a nice spot to just relax my hands for a bit. I find myself on the curve almost 90% though.

I have 42cm B123s, so it's definitely an option. Great looking bike.

I like the way it looks, if you did this how does that affect handling?

The rear wheel has a diameter of 200 pixels measured inside-rim to inside-rim, and the front wheel has a diameter of 185 pixels measured the same way.

Crazy coincidence that those diameters have the exact same ratio as a 700C rim would have to a 650C.

Yeah, I'm going to say it really looks like a 640C up front. The camera angle is strait on as well...

Plus I think we can all agree, if anyone knows what size wheels are on Jameltoe's bike, it's me.
