They're pretty good. I/my boy/a stranger is a beast and has been riding them for quite awhile.

ALL CITY double toe straps: junk/not junk?

They're a third the cost of toshis, and yes you get what you pay for, but in this case is $35 enough?

A few friends of mine have these. They seem promising, but they're exactly like the Soma or Dimension double straps. Exactly.
So I guess don't expect much more from them than what you expect from the Soma/Dimension ones.

i'm sure they're the same as all the other cheap ones
I usually get dimensions, because sometimes my bike gets rained on, and I'd hate for toshis to get ruined from getting soaked
they work fine, get brittle and break after getting rained on a few times, usually takes me like 2-3 months to go through a set.

1) it's not for me
2) it's not for a road bike (the ram is for a fuji team issue)
3) it's for a beater/lock up bike (my girlfriend's, specifically)
4) i hope you're joking...

I can't say much for the long haul, but I've had them on my bike for 3 weeks or so now. They are so much better than my MKS singles and they have held tight for me so far. The MKS clips were so beat after a month that I had to adjust them every time I rode.

just bought a set for my girlfriend today. Apparently the bike shop guy (friend of ours) told us that all city is essentially dimension's fixed brand lol. So ya they are the same as dimension according to him.
I wouldn't pay for toshi or other outrageous double straps. for all the money you would spend you could go to performance and get a set of crank bros candy clip pedals and shoes. srsly.
I would go with them is what I am trying to say

**** paying all that money for MKS/Toshi stuff. I still prefer clipless over my All City stuff but oh well. They're nice and especially for the money. I have the double cage, pedal, and double straps.

Bikes: I have cut my stable down to one bike in hopes to make room for a roadie.
We got some all city straps in at the shop and returned them the next day. They stretched a lot just while threading them through the pedals and the area where the straps join together is too long to clinch the straps tightly down on the foot. These are junk.

why would you spend that kind of money on straps? theyll cost as much or more than anything else on the bike, and they could get stolen without a single tool being used.
i am all about toshis, and would recommend them to anyone willing to spend the money, but in this case i have to say it doesnt make sense.
edit: ok now i read thru the entire thread and basically, you will have to replace all those all city, dimension, soma double straps at least once a year. toshis, maybe never. just wanted to add that to the convo, still holding on to my previously stated opinion tho.

she often spends an hour (or more, depending on how busy things are) over the course of a single weekday on this bike, and will do more on weekend days-- all stop/start riding in traffic. spending a buck on straps isn't overkill if she needs it.
and frankly, i've never once heard of someone having straps stolen off of a bike. not that it can't happen, but a more realistic concern would be having to deal with replacing $35 straps four or five times a year vs once (or never).
that said, she ordered the all city's and will ride them until they break; at that point, she'll make a decision.

the best way ive heard of to avoid strap theft is to get the white toshis and dye them a dark enough color to mask the stamped on logo. of course this will do nothing against a trained eye, since the buckles are stamped too, but its a decent idea. worth a shot.

yeah... we'll see what the deal is. i will say that i have an old single set of toshi singles that have been on quite a few bikes and not seen so much as a mini tear. they look like snuffleupagus though..
