I dont think so bob. Very similar geometry can be found in a number of other bars. rb021 ~ syntace stratos, profile airwings, hell even nashbar bullhorns. rb018~ eighthinch, origin 8 (same as 1/8), transx, good ole chop and flops, etc etc. Nothing unique about them.

RB-018s are pretty much similar to most stock bullhorns. Pursuit bullhorns however vary a bit. Rb-021, rb-009, airwings, and stratos are all fairly different.

rb021 is VERY different from the mentioned bullhorns. Stratos have ergo bends. Airwings, Nashbar, and TransX bullhorns have ridiculous long reach. Nitto is just awesome.

I have 18s that I got with my IRO build kit - love them, ridden them through all seasons (Toronto, Canada winter) and have been both brakeless and brake-equipped... I ride anything from 200km to 10km trips and have no real qualms. I use most of the bar area on long rides to switch things up, never have had significant complaints even after 8 hours in the saddle.
The only obvious point is that they're bullhorns, so don't have drops, so heading into the wind it's a bit heavy at times - but that's not specific to 018s.
I'd recommend them, personally...

chopped bars are often not as long as the 018s. the reach is what makes 018s comfortable (or similarly shaped bars).
