Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: 82 Bianchi ECO Pista, Pake, Kilo TT, some *** bmx i found underneath an old house

- 1 on a colored chain
+1 on a yellow saddle. I don't know why, but i think a yellow saddle would look pretty fresh on there, especially if you change the bar tape to black.

Bikes: 2006 Lemond Tourmalet; 198(?) Gardin mid-fixie conversion

If you actually ride your bike, your chain will eventually be black (at least temporarily). The world is a dirty/dusty place.

Got a blue one on the mtb and if you keep on top of it and wipe down after everyride with a damp cloth, it will stay the desired color.

The inside are the primary colours, the second ring are the secondaries (combinations of the adjacent primaries) and the next set are the tertiaries (combinations of the adjacent secondaries).

Bikes: Sold '08 Jamis Coda Comp, building a Leader 720TR. I know, let the hating begin!

Pick a color and then look at what's directly opposite of it on the wheel, and that's your complimentary color! i.e., red+green, yellow+purple, blue+orange

For paint-mixing, of course! Although I prefer hue/saturation based wheels with a fade to neutral gray in the middle. I should airbrush a bike...as long as it's not a fixed gear, and as long as it's supposed to look like sh/t.

Bikes: A fixed gear, a vintage roadie and a POS.

Coloured chains are to cyclists, what garlic is to vampires. For the love of god, just get a silver one! Please.......

I thought about running a colored chain on my new build, I just went with a SRAM PC-1 and called it a day. Although it doesn't have the wow factor of a colored one, I think I'm gonna be happier overall. Although Spank makes a sweet half link chain in colors called the Tweet Tweet(no yellow though) and the new KMC 710SL looks good too.

You mean the "wow that's ostentatious and hideous" factor? Probably true.

It is not always obvious plenty of people Zombie threads that are long dormant not realizing it I will sometimes respond to an old thread not realizing how old it is. It is one thing when someone is truly moving the conversation along a significant degree with some really pertinent information but most old threads it is better just to leave them and if someone really needs it is a google search away. But so much has changed in 16 years.

I read it for that info as you just described, but found that piece of information the whole take on colored chains and laughed at it. Thought that it was interesting enough people would ALSO find it amusing as I did.
It's ok pal, it's all understood, no need to drag this on anymore.

Plus I needed 10 posts to post a picture in the Miele Toronto bike thread and that one got me over the threshold. Thank you.
