Now take this for what it's worth... not much... I just find it odd as someone new to the scene, that the best straps are leather and that it costs $100 for a reliable pair.
Seems like a decent synthetic should have been developed by now, I mean.... straps aren't new tech...
Like I said, This is just more of a noobie jabbering on thing... just seems weird.

the key with the toshi's is that the suede is super durable, and the nylon keeps the form of the cage, therefore making entry and exit easy.
you get what you pay for, toshi's work great and are super durable (rain or shine)

Oh, the colorways!
You can also spend $30 on the soma or all-city double straps, and get two sets of the MKS nylon straps for $20. Never used Toshis but nylon beats every cheap to mid-level leather strap I've used.

It seems nearly a priori knowledge that those wouldn't make the buckles hold tighter or keep the leather from stretching.

Perhaps I misunderstood the younger gentleman who told me that these strap cozies were "hella tight".

If you really need some inexpensive but decent double-straps, I would try the Errebi Sprint's. A picture is here.

so yeah, either the clips are slipping or it's stretching like no other but there's quite a bit of play after every ride. Definitely gonna go out looking for new straps.
