miyata fixed gear conversion
Hi, im new but i have a ton of questions about converting my recently purchased Miyata 310 Road Bike to a fixie.
The main thing is that the bike being maybe 25 years old, has 27 inch tires and I know that the 700c size would work and is more common but is that just for track bikes? I want to save the 27s as they are and purchase a new wheelset unless it is easy to remove the freewheel and mount a fixed gear on the hub. But I think it would be easier to get a hub designed for fixed gear unless you guys think I should use the 27s and mount it where the freewheel goes(it would save me 100-200 dollars). What is my best option? the 27s are made of steel and I would like to get lighter aluminum rims as well unless the steel would be better. Also are the Deep-V rims only meant for tubular tires? What kind of tires do I want to get? the front fork is 100mm and the rear is 120.
Another thing, what is a good sprocket tooth ratio, the front sprocket I will use it 42 toothed.
