the only thing that concerns me is they dont seem quite sure what the hubs are...

Saberhead 04-25-09 09:41 PM

Look like Forumlas to me

coppertop4646 04-25-09 09:55 PM

Yeah they're most likely unbranded formulas

rduenas 04-25-09 10:05 PM

Those look like Kilo TT hubs, aka SHIET.

They're not, Kilo hubs don't get skinnier towards the middle of the hub like those do

B:H Pusher 04-25-09 10:44 PM

same **** they put on the bianchi pista's no?

PedallingATX 04-25-09 10:48 PM

pay the extra 20 bucks and get the version that is laced to formula/joytech hubs...I bought that wheelset and stripped the lockring threads in a day. Granted the lockring was installed w/o grease, but a guy at th bike shop still thought that aluminum was super soft and crappy.

bmw5nkj 04-25-09 11:22 PM

i had those hubs before. they work, but they can be a little rough after a while. just clean and lube the bearings often and it should serve you well. the alex r450 rims look pretty good. they are a good, inexpensive wheelset.

yea looks like the cheap Kilo/Windsor/Pista hubs that dont last long. there is a difference and enough to tell the difference between Formula and those generic non formulas. dont waste the money of getting these and have them stripp/bearing suck/fail/stripping lockring threads mostly on you. get a set with at least formulas if not phil hubs. ^_________^

I have been really pleased with my Formula hubs and the Formula hubs I have built for other folks have held up really well too... and I figure I subject them to as much abuse as anyone.

what are these sexy flower pedals on hub? anyone else think its pretty?

malpag3 04-27-09 07:18 AM

Love my Formula's. They're laced to WTB Dual Duty rims. Pretty bomber proof.

Sta-Tru are pretty bargain basement wheel builders from what I understand. They'll work, but they will probably need a lot of attention.

Cane Creeks hubs are pretty, cool idea to put on straight spokes & move nipples to the center, but they are a PITA to work on b/c the nipples are in a tight spot & you need a special CC wrench (you get w/wheels) to tension spokes.

easy rule of thumb if they don't know what it is they are selling keep your money

kergin 04-27-09 07:33 PM

FWIW, those rims are pretty decent. That hub looks like ****e, though.

Surely they know what they are selling. What I think they mean to say is that you (the buyer) don't have a choice. You will get either joytech or formula hubs.

+1

clink83 04-27-09 10:01 PM

Stripped lockring threads=user error. Any Al hub is easy to crossthread.

Dustintendo 04-28-09 12:53 AM

i ended up deciding to just keep my front wheel, ended up getting a dimension/velocity rear
