Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yeah. Steel forks add a lot of weight to FGs. If you took a CF frame and fork and built a FG with it, you might get down to 10 lbs.

doubtful. carbon fiber track frames really aren't ridiculously light like road frames. on my bike the only outrageously heavy components are the hubs. in track form (no brake/lever) my bike is about 14.4 lbs. even if i switched out the frame for something lighter and got a lighter wheelset i'd probably be below 13. but 10 lbs? highly unlikely.

and lol at mucky getting **** for his bike any time he posts a pic of it (though pictures are a vast improvement over seizure-inducing .gifs). I've seen him once or twice, he doesn't stick out as any more of a jackass over the rest of us college fixie riding ******bags

That's lighter than my Langster. Did you switch out anything, and for what?

its started as a boston langster. took off the brakes, swapped the track bars for alum risers, and old heavy time atac pedals

The actual track bike is something like 18, the 3rensho conversion's around 22 at the moment, and I think the mountain bike hovers around 25, 26 depending on what tires I've got on it.

My FTP is at 17lbs. Not bad for it being, powdercoated and having a heavy Randonneur (weighs nearly a pound) on the back.

Not trying to be a weightweenie, though. Once you're out riding with your muscles warmed up, the bike always feel lighter.
