Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

sorry, i just posted it here bc i had no idea they were doing things like this. I'm just a straight up roadie and commuter cyclist, doing criteriums and stuff. So this is like ultra-bizarre

yeah i agree it's not as fun as watching trials, but it's kind of neat that you can ride a regular, practical bike and use it for other applications....Kind of like CX.

I'm surprised that the deep Vs are that strong, actually.

some of these tricks are pretty cool, I could never get into doing this seriously since I would be too afraid to damage my bike. anyone know around what gearing they use for this type of stuff? the video with the guy riding down the set of stairs is pretty dumb IMO you could do this on any type of bike and the choice of riding stairs with a fixed gear road bike seems pretty destructive.

I've already seen a few track bikes with BMX handle bars, the bar height is a good 5 inches higher than the saddle, looks pretty ridiculous on a track bike.
