help! I'm a noob. converting single speed to fixed gear?

hi! I recently acquired an old nishiki, which has been converted into a single speed. I haven't done much work on bikes myself (my father always did my bikes before, he is no longer with me, so I'm on my own this time), I'm really clueless at this point, not sure where to start. can any of you offer any tips for an easy conversion to fixed gear? anything specific I should know? any good sites with a tutorial? I'm kind of scared to do it myself, but I really want to learn. any help would be awesome.

You need a new wheel.

Unless you plan on running a suicide setup.

haha. yeah you just need something that has two sets of threads on the hub: cog threads (tighten to the right) and lockring threads (tighten to the left). You also need a cog and lockring. However, if your dad did the SS conversion, he might have already bought a wheelset that has a fixed side on it. You should show a picture of your rear wheel so we can make sure it's not already set for fixed use.

Even if you do need a new rear wheel, though, it will be less than 100. Cog and lockring will be like 25
