The bars came in yesterday and I just installed them this morning. Took it for a test and like them much better than the drop handlebars. My first time wraping the bars with bar tape and think it came out really good.

I also got my FSA Carbon Pro crankset in this morning. WOW! I really love the way they look. We will see how they perform, but if/when these go south I will definitely consider picking up the much better all carbon version.





I am still waiting on my ISIS bottom bracket, tools for stock and new bb, grease, pedals, and 18t cog. I then will be ordering the DT Swiss RR1.2 black wheels with Paul Hubs, and DT Swiss black spokes. Site says that complete wheels (minus the tire/tube) will be 2,076 grams for both front and rear. This works out to about 4.5 lbs. I hope that is lighter than the stock wheels.

Looking good. Capos are so nice looking, and yours will look better without the white cranks and rims.

Personally, I wouldn't spring for the Pauls, and I'd go with 1.1s, but, hey, it's your bike.

do you plan on changing the pedals on that bike? cause it kinda ruins the look to the bike, like a fine suit and dirty sneakers.

Pedals will be a good change. As will the rims. Once you get confident, consider getting rid of that rear brake too. Woof.

The postman actually just dropped off my MKS GR-9 black pedals w/ clips and straps, but I hate the straps/clips on them. It doesn't feel right and are hard to get in and out of. I will just run the pedals for now until I find something else I like more.

Finally a bike with two brakes. Good job.

If you don't like the feel of clips/straps then you need new shoes. Get some sambas/ultimate 81s/mexico 66s

-1 on the Ultimate 81's. The clips wore holes in mine in a matter of months.

Most people prefer Ultimate 81s but I like my Mexico 66s better. I'm getting Baja (velco) ones next

Forgot to mention the tread on the Ultimate 81's - - when it wears down, even just a little, it makes it very difficult to get your feet in the clips (at least the way I do it--maybe there is a better method?). There's nothing for those little spikes on the bottom of pedals to grip on to, thus you can't get the pedal to flip over

Quick update for the day. My new cranks, bb, pedals, chain, 18t cog, and seat pack are all installed. I really like the way it is looking. Just waiting to order seat (red Selle Italia Turbo SLG if I can find one) and the wheels. New photos will be up tonight.

I also ordered Tektro RX 5.0 Carbon bar end brake levers to allow me to ride the horns and not have to move my hands to get to the brake levers. I guess I will also need to pick up some new brake cables to reach now.

good choice on the BB. I was going to suggest you get the Cyan over the FSA Plat Pro.... the Crank Bro's BB is way nicer.

If it were me, I would get some SRAM TT Carbon levers over the Tektro 5.0. I have the 5.0's and they work OK, but they are a little sloppy and the SRAM's have better feel.

I liked those SRAM TT levers but at more than double the Tektro's I figured I would see if I like them first. If not, i'll sell them off and pick up the SRAMs.

Just finished uploading some new photos. Rode 5.5 miles today with the setup as shown. I love it!
New wheels/tires, brake levers, brake cables, and my clips and it will be good to go.

I bought a complete bike so I could ride it while I waited for parts to arrive. Now if my dad or my gf wants to ride I could build another bike minus the bars, stem, fork, frame, etc.

I like it and that is all that matters. As long as it makes me want to ride who cares what I build? I am all for constructive critisism, but your post wasn't necessary.

In all seriousness, just ride your bike. The whole fetishizing over parts and builds is a stupid path that leads to absolutely nowhere. There are a lot of people in this forum who don't ride their bike for **** (not a majority at all mind you, but there's a lot of them) and keep throwing money at it to make their bike lighter, smoother, faster or more responsive while completely missing the fact that stronger legs and better lungs built up through training will make them a dozen magnitudes faster than a couple grand poured into their build.

So constructively speaking, you're replacing parts before they even have a chance to become dirty (let alone worn) and it looks a little bit foolish. Whatever you're trying to accomplish with this path of upgrading (be it looking cooler or going faster) you'd be able to pull off better with just riding hard, and you wouldn't look quite so silly in the process. By all means, do what you want to do, but from an outside perspective this is all a bit much

I always have to modify and tinker with things. I am happy with it's performance and my goal is to ride it everyday to help build muscle and stamina. I like the way it looks as is, but I will really love it once I have some black wheels (DT Swiss or Aerospokes) and my red saddle. The more I like it the more I will want to actually use it. I am building the bike for me and no one else. I don't expect everyone to like it and understand some comments might be negative.

And I understand the OP's affliction to upgrade. The only thing left on my bike that is original is the headset... even the paint is different than stock. I also ride 5-7000 miles per year,.... who is to say that the OP doesn't do the same?

I think it makes perfect sense. I am using my stock parts on other builds and will sell what I don't use. I wanted one of the last U.S. made Cannondale framesets. I too can't leave well enough alone. Stock=boring to me. There isn't a single bike in my stable that is stock.

Exactly! If my dad/gf/friend shows interest I will now cheaply be able to get them set up on a fixed gear with the spare parts I have left. I like the Capo frameset. Very clean and simple.

The LBS dude was telling me that this was one of the last US Made Cannondale framesets also. If I was to get another frameset to build up it would probably be a Cinelli Vigorelli, Fugi, or something else really sweet!
