my second build...

ok well there has a bit of hate from some of the fools round here when i hung some nice parts off a pake frame...

well i now have a real deal track frame with most of the same nice parts...

Not sure of the year this frame was made but it appears to be a road training frame built for the X world champ velo racer Stephen Pate could be around 1993 just before he went to jail.

Frame: Daryl Perkins custom built track frame 56cm top tube 52cm seat tube, Reynolds 853 butted tubing and Columbus drops

Handlebars and Stem: nitto b200aa cut down, nitto crystal fellow, black oury grips

Fork and Headset: Daryl Perkins straight forks and Campy Athena head set

Front wheel: dT RR 1.1 3x 14g DT to phil wood high in 32

Rear wheel: dT RR 1.1 3x 14g DT to phil wood high fixed and free in 32

Crankset and Bottom bracket: campy 170 cranks 80's vintage, sugnio 75 'superlap' BB

Saddle and Seat Post: san marco regal Ti and nitto jaguar stem

Pedals and Chain: mKS royal nuevo ( 80;s vintage racing pedals ), MKS med cages, toshi single straps, wippermann 1G8 super chain

Cog/Gearing: sugino mash cog set 16t, campy 42t chain wheel , 69 gear inch's of awesomeness

got some MKS alpha double straps and a nitto b2520 flat sweep bar arriving in the morning

dude that bike is beautiful. I love the red cog/straps. Perfect. I don't understand your bar choice, but w/e, it's personal preference.

I will never understand why they would drill the bike for a rear brake...

Just don't like riding with drops or risers ( am putting a set of polisihed flat sweeps on it )
The frame has a rear brake mount and short drops because it's a road training frame used built for an X world champ velo racer, I really don't think he road it much either for a 15 yo frame it's in near perfect condition

Na a rear brake was what they used round here, the front end is so tight you can only run 700/23s in there, I really don't think a front fork would fit to well, gona man up and take the brakes off..

You'd be surprised. My track bike has insanely tight clearance up front, but the brake's no problem at all.

That thing is gorgeous. I think it would look perfect with a set of drops, but again, that is from an aesthetics point of view. Whatever you feel is comfortable is worth more than looks.

If that thing's actually built from 853, it was built in 1995 or later.

If it isn't drilled for braking, it probably wasn't designed for the stress of a brake. I can't remember where, but I saw an example of someone drilling out their nice track fork, toss on a brake, use the brake, then faceplant when the fork tubes gave out.

Winter is the only time I'd ride with untaped/no grips. In winter I wear gloves, in summer, not so often. You dont want slippery hands from sweat and losing control!

You wouldn't have to lean it up against stuff to take pictures if it had a kick-stand.
