Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Maybe ride the wheelset you have for a while and see how it holds up and what issues you have. There is such a range of options for a fg/ss wheelset. Personally if I had it all to do over again I would get 36 hole Mavic A719 (bomber touring wheelset, box section) laced to low-flange Phils. Accommodates wider tires which are better for absorbing potholes and railroad tracks and the other slings and arrows of commuting and urban riding. I have the ubiquitous Deep Vs laced to a great set of hubs but the Deep Vs currently have 23mm tires which kinda but me but aren't worn out enough to replace just at the moment.
