GT Track bike?

I can swear I've seen GT track bikes. Do they sell them in the US? My internship at Dorel started today and I found out that as employees we get all Schwinn, GT, and Mongoose bikes at less than half MSRP. I just have to tell them what I want, but I can't find their track bike on the website. The Madison is beautiful but I don't know if the geometry is true track.

So does GT offer a track bike or have I just seen conversions?

Well. there's the GTB and Pulse but I don't think they make them anymore...unless you call some GT headquarters warehouse or whatever..they might have something...

Do this, you might be able to find a crate of them. Pulses are the higher end ones and came with Dura Ace. There was a guy on eBay selling NIB Pulses a few months ago, so you never know. I ride one and like it, the pics are in my sig.

a bike shop near me has a GT track bike hanging up (i'm not sure what the MSRP is on it)

i'm not a track geometry officianado or anything, but from the looks of it, it definitely looks more suited for a track than the madison would be though. i'm sure the 75 degree geometry (or whatever the hell) nazis will get me for that claim, but the seat tube is taller than the cluster, so i'd imagine the back is really tight.

i have no idea if they're still in production or not

Yeah I guess I'll just ask to see if they could look around if they have any in the warehouse. Do you guys know what the MSRP on the GTB and Pulse were? Ballpark. If the Pulse had DA I'm guessing +$1000? I think I want to spend $300 max.

It is a love it or hate it thing, I know, but I have a weakness for GTs from my mountain biking days so couldn't pass up this frame when I saw it. It is very stiff but I like that, so I have no complaints. I should probably put a carbon fork on it or something but the carbon seat post softens things up a bit.

Mine is a '98 and I don't believe there was much distinction between the different years. They are no longer in production and I believe that the last year was 2002 but I am not 100% sure of that. However, if Schwinn brought back the Madison, you never know....

Dunno what original MSRP was but the guy on eBay was slinging his NIB Pulses for 1050$USD and he sold them all. This was about 6 months ago and he had about 5 or so.

you won't find a NOS or NIB Pulse or GTB frame on craigslist or ebay for less than $600 but there might be a couple hanging around shops. they haven't been produced for 9 years so they are getting harder to find. I would kill for one that is NOS. From what I remember those full NOS Pulses were going for about a grand on the bay. whatever happened to the rumor that GT was going to start reproducing them.

ive seen several on craigslist up here. just checkout newyork.craigslist.com. maybe you could talk them into mailing it. i almost bought one maybe like 3-4 weeks ago for $450 but it was too small. from what i hear theyre a weird ride, but i didnt even take it around the block. but i have definately seen atleast 3 in the last 6months all around 450. seems like they all came with components too.

They're actually in pretty high demand. It's a love/hate kind of frame. I'm aware of two GTBs that recently sold seperately for over $300 each, just frame and fork.

I love(d) the bike (just sold mine). It's -really- stiff, slightly reverse sloping top tube, and very light. It was just a bit more aggresive than I would have liked.

Really it would be amazing if the didn't at this point. It's even kinda weird that they haven't already.

Too bad the one without a seat tube won't be coming back. It would probably be much nicer to ride on the road.

i dig those frames... kinda faking it with a project bike now... making fixed cyclocross-ish frankenbike from a decent older karakoram frame. waiting for a new fork and off to the powdercoater it goes.

Yeah, it's actually a re-badged Trimble and was made for the 1996 and 2000 US Olympic track team.

The aforementioned ebay seller of GT's was Ted Prahl of the Treadmill in Potsdam NY (actually Ted's pal was the seller). I'm pretty sure he's sold em all off, he recently moved the shop and doesn't have near the room he use to. My Saturday morning rides take me past the shop, I'll have to stop and see what's left in the basement. He use to have literally mounds of bike parts and frames.

NOS Pulses for $1000, should have bought one instead of the GTB, I've done enough upgrades to it I would have saved money in the long run.
