lights?
 

I am looking for a front and rear light so I can ride to and from work. The streets are pretty lit so seeing is not that big of a deal I just don't want to get run over. I want the lights to be pretty small and I want to be able to remove them quick for work. I just want something that is bright enough for cars to see and that isn't going to break in a few months. I tried to search but didn't find anything.

i like the planet bike 1w blaze and superflash.

That is the set I am looking at too. How is the mounting? Is it quick and easy to remove? Is it going to wear out if it gets put on and off at least once everyday?

mounting isnt amazing but gets the job done. removal is easy and ought to be durable. the visibility is great!

Can't comment on a front light, but I have a PB Superflash for a rear light and it seems to be working out great. It's very bright.

i have a standard cateye on the front and its BRIGHT, and it easily detaches. for the back i run a super beetle that is sleek and bright

My Superflash has issues when it is wet.

Flea.
They mount anywhere with a velcro strap that is secure and easy to remove and replace over and over.
Mine always work, even in a downpour.

That is what I was wondering. I read that some people didn't like the mounting but if it works I don't care. I think I am going to order this set when I get my next check.

the superflash stealth is sealed better than the original. for the front mounting, put some spare bar or electrical tape under the clamp, and once you figure out the somewhat wonky system, its good to go.

another 1w blaze and superflash

i clip the superflash to my pants, but the blaze still needs the bracket. it's some wierd quick release cammed thing though so it's pretty easy to transfer between bikes it need be

I also have the superflash and am very happy with it. It's just a no frills, generally great light. My only problem with it is that it falls off my chrome bag every now and then because the clip on thingy isn't great. However, after a year of maybe 10+ drops onto concrete and pavement, the sf is still going strong.

I have the Spok lights mounted to my winter helmet and they have performed extremely well and I really think that having a helmet mounted light is the best way to go as the higher position really increases visibility.

I have a Super Turtle mounted in the back of my new helmet and also have a PB Superflash that has been going for years, gets transferred between bikes daily (seat post mounted) and a 1 w PB LED up front.

And when that isn't enough I have a 10 watt Nighthawk.

another vote for 1watt blaze with stealth superflash. I just got this setup in and it is really nice for the money.

knogs and those spoks literally don't hold a candle compared to the superflash.

I have the stealth version.
When it gets wet, it likes to turn off or switch modes all by itself. The switch is just poorly designed and it isn't all that waterproof. I prefer a 'non-wonky' system.

It really sucks to look back after riding a few miles in the rain or at night and see your damn light turned itself off.

I have tried all kinds of lights (on the low-end price range), and the blackburn fleas are the only ones worth anything.

Odd (to me) because I've got a couple of PBSFs and have ridden thousands of miles with them in the rain, without any problems. Mine aren't the stealth version, though.

I bet part of my success with the Superflash is that besides the seatpost mount I also run fenders on most of my bikes which keeps the area under the saddle dry and clean.

I have heard other people complain about their Superflash failing and this probably stems from having it exposed to the elements.

i hate riding behind people with planet bike superflashes. those things are ******** bright.

I use this little guy up front and a frog in rear. I got that one because it allows tool-less removal so I don't have unsightly mounting hardware on my bike during the day. It's also an ugly color, but nobody can see it when it's in use. ;)

I've also got a second frog I use up front for dual-blinking action to draw a little more attention to myself, and a who-knows-what-brand 3 led rear that i broke the mounting hardware for, which I attach to my bag (when I can find it).

I don't have one on my FG but I love the dynamo hub on my commuter bike. If money wasn't so tight I'd run dynamo hubs on all my bikes.

superflash on the back. cateye spot in the front, but I'm still deciding on which torch to replace it with -- I'd like 3 modes (on/off/blink), short, water and shock proof, 3 hours at least of runtime, and AA NIMH batteries...ITP CR8 is an option, but I havent pulled the trigger just yet.

I got my blackburn flea set a couple weeks back. The back isn't as bright as a superflash, but it's better than a knog. The front, though, is so ****ing bright. Jeezus kryst that little guy is bright. I can't mount it on my handlebars because it's too bright and too much of the light leaks around the sheilding and blinds me. I had to cut up the velcro mounting strap to get it to mount onto my helmet. Now I can look ******y drivers right in the eyes and give them seizures. Yay!
