Chain / Crank / Pedal problem? help please

So basically this started happening when i took my rear wheel off to change it. I noticed it while track standing the crankarms / pedals felt wobbly and noticed that they did move while my back wheel was stationary. Is this a chain tension problem? if so how can I fix this thanks

Your chain is loose

your pedals are ugly.

ur biek is liek broek. plz buy car.

Not to sound condescending or anything (that's timebandit's job) but I can't believe you bothered to make a video of this and post it on YouTube. It's obvious your chain is loose!

thank you for not steppin on my toes.

Wouldn't dream if it, John Thomas!
:D

this is how you fix this problem: remove the rear wheel. count how many links you have in your chain and then divide that number 1.56 and then add the number of spokes you have in the rear wheel to the total. Use this number to reach the proper chain tension -- this is called your "fixie gain ratio". See Sheldon Brown's site -- he has a chart that lists various fixie gain ratios and their correspondent measurements of how far back an axle should sit in the rear drop outs. When you put the rear wheel back on, be sure to slightly tilt the rear wheel toward the crank. This will make your pedaling much more efficient (which is also known as "go faster").

lol wut?

John Thomas. It's an old British term meaning dick.

no, i was talking about psirues advice.

always install your wheel as centered as possible. idk about the rest of his post, but it sounds like BS too. just install the ****ing wheel. you dont need math.

psirue 06-25-09 07:35 PM

you should read up on fixie gain ratios and efficiencies from a slanted rear wheel, man.

Scrodzilla 06-25-09 09:35 PM

I'm still blown away by the fact that this dude took the time to make a damn video instead of simply pulling his wheel back. especially after removing and putting his wheel back in the first place. Was the physics of chain tension not obvious enough???

that video made me laugh. i wonder what his mother thinks

time bandit 06-26-09 01:42 PM

i understand gain ratios. wtf does spoke count have to do with it?

also can you provide some reading material about slanting your rear wheel? i cant seem to find anything about it.

my penis hurts.
