Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Anyone looking for a 52cm Langster?

During my travels into NYC, I was able to briefly leave my wife and cousin to their shopping on Broadway and slip into the Bicyle Habitat (https://bicyclehabitat.com/site/intro.cfm) shop on Lafayette. Cool little shop, much like I expected it to be. Very friendly staff properly outfitting weekend shoppers with correctly-sized frames and helmets. They had a Langster Pro in stock for approx. $1300, dunno what size it was though. What I did see outside though was a 52cm Langster set up as a ss with the price tag of $440. Wish it was my size, though my wife wouldn't have liked the purchase! I didn't buy my Surly hub either...kept thinking of those Suzue Jr's I could get instead...that's the damn cheapness in me talking.

Saw several fixies though...one was a red fuji coming down Broadway and another bike was going up Lafayette. Wishing the whole day I brought my bike with me and rode as my cousin and wife shopped. Oh well, next time. Funny how every bike from very old to slightly new I saw locked up, was using the Kryptonite NYC lock or something similar. On a side note, We were at the Nike store on 57th and 5th (I think) and as we were leaving we were handed flags to wave as the Olympic torch was to come around in about 15 minutes. What the heck, we decided to wait and were greated to watching Donald Trump signing autographs and taking pictures.Very funny looking guy as he waited and pondered patiently at the corner of 59th and 5th for his turn to "run" with the torch.

And I got those damn roasted nuts and coconut pieces I've been craving! Woohoo!

Wow! A hole new side of you Merton. Perhaps this would have been better to keep to yourself or at least close friends and family.
