HELP!! New fixed gear set up...

I just sold my road bike and trying to get into fixed gear riding. Can anyone guide me with a list of everything I will need, all parts necessary to build up an older frame at lowest cost? Also if anyone has any old parts laying around let me know!

Thanks a lot!

you have an older frame? does it have a bottom bracket, fork, headset, seatclamp, stem, etc?

Bikes: Too many to list here check my signature.

why did you sell your roadbike? are you using that money for the fixed gear? unless you want something that looks homemade or you really want to do it yourself, buy a whole bike. it will be cheaper (unless you use all old parts) problems with chainline mismatched componets will be fewer.
I got myslef and friend two nice Bikesdirect bikes. I got a Motobecane Fantom Uno, single speed cross. my friend got a Mercier Kilo TT. both nice bikes and less than 750 for the pair. the Mercier is stock, I customed my Uno a bit

Ya I dont really want a bikesdirect bike, I hear too many mixed reviews. I got $300 from my old bike and was planning to use that towards the project. I am in the process of finding an old frame for cheap but I just dont know about all the other components: where to look, if I should do it myself, or just have the LBS do it, etc.

ya just buy a whole bike. You are going to run into issues if you are converting an old frame and it won't be much cheaper. IRO is having a deal on their frames right now, get one!

Pista is good
Steamroller is good

you really can't go wrong. just get one and ride

haha I would buy it back in a heartbeat but it was about 6 inches too small... The only reason I was thinking of building up is because I only have about $400 budget and you cant really get much of a full bike with that.
