brake lever and track drops
hey everybody, this may be a stupid question, but anyway, so i just ordered b127 nitto track drops and was wondering what brake lever would work on the flats. i was thinking about getting a tektro 2.0 cross lever or one of the cane creek cross levers, since i can get those at my lbs, and i read that even though they are in-line levers, they can be used alone. but i'm confused, how do they work as stand alone levers? i thought they pushed the cable rather than pull it when used in-line. when i was looking at the cane creek levers the other day, i couldn't for the life of me figure out how they would work as stand alone levers. can anyone help me figure out the mechanics of this? thanks tons.

cake. On a typical setup (inline), the cable which goes from the normal lever to the inline is taught, and does not move. Moving the inline lever simply pushes the housing, which closes the caliper.
When you adapt the inline as a standalone, the cable-end (little steel nub) will be taught against the back-side of the inline lever (thereby rendering the cable motionless). Pulling the lever again results in pushing the housing, which closes the caliper.

Which LBS are you going to. When I was getting a lever for my bike, the dude at Outback made fun of me. I guess it stuck b/c I took my break off last week after 10 months of practice with the fixie.

i went to outback as well. i generally go there unless out of convienence, although you go in there during the weekend and the place is crawling with yuppies buying 400.00 worth of biking clothes. i'd rather order from business cycles online, or go to intown bikes or the shop in decatur (cant remember its name). by the way, who are you south fulcrum? i have a feeling i know you. i ride a blue steamroller and a grey no name bike as my rainy day bike.

I'm Jay. I think I've seen your bike around. I ride a Pista that is painted black with a sticker that says "**** the Republican Party" I live in Reynoldstown and often ride to L5P and East Atlanta.
I like Intown too. They are just really nice.

Well, now to do some work. Lousy work.
