Fixies get the boot
Don't take your fixed gear bikes to Berlin boys

Ignorance and discrimination taken to new low?
Since when does fixed gear = brakeless?

That is wrong, and the article is wrong!
Reading it doesn't even make sense
"Since there’s no freewheel on a fixie, the pedals continue to rotate as long as the bike is moving forward. This means the rider either has to slow the bike by fighting the momentum or brake by locking up the back wheel to skid to a stop."
Are they talking about fixed or brakeless? They don't say. I read elsewhere that it is the brakeless aspect of the bike that is banned, also that the owners have to declare that they will install a brake to get the bike back. It is brakeless that is being cracked down on, not FG. How can a copper spot if someone is riding FG anyway? "Excuse me son, i noticed you didn't coast down that hill, i need to inspect your rear cog!" lol.
Brakeless is fine, but it is so stupid to be saying stuff like they are banning FG, that article blurs the lines of what is happening and misrepresents it by mixing the idea of FG bikes can only brake through the pedals.
If they want a law that says u need brakes, and enforce it, that is fine, lots of countries do it. I am sure in Japan it will be soon, there has been an increase here in FG deaths because of inexperienced riders going brakeless. It was on TV a little while ago, and if it gets worse, then I am sure the cops will crack down here too (the law does require a functioning brake here to, as in the US)
