Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My Takara Conversion

No real good reason to post. I just wanted to share with others.

I just finished it up last night. Its a single speed and fun to ride. I think I need some new brake pads though. Thoughts? Trash talk?

1. Probably should have posted in the first thread of the forum dedicated to "showing off" your new ride.
2. For trash talk post it in the "what don't you like about my bike" thread.
3. make sure if you post it n the "what don't you like about my bike" thread, to tell everyone that you started a new thread for your conversion, they'll appreciate that.
4. Glad you are excited, just be careful starting a thread. You should search high and low to make sure that the subject isn't covered first, many on here get very upset.
5. fixedgeargallery.com would be a great place to "show off" as well.

Man, I almost nabbed a Takara in decent condition for $16 on Craigslist yesterday. You're making me regret not being quicker to reply to that ad...

I personally think it looks great.
Fix your saddle angle and lower the stem, but that is only visual preference.

Good job.

I think your levers need to be smaller.
