The Ask A Mechanic Thrad

I am a experianced mechaic with 25+ years in a bike shop. I notice many people in here start new thread and getting 20+ babbling rambling posts from guys with cat avatars who don't know what they are talking about and who use the word fixie.

So post here, and i will answer you with one post, and the correct answer!

When facing a headtube, it os first important to get the bike properly prepared.

Bikes: Too Many

Good, I've been waiting for this kind of thread. Everyone else here would just tell me that I'm dumb like the guys in the bike shops. My brake lever won't stay still on my toptube. Do I need a something called a shim?

Here I'll do the thread too-

Hey, I have a rattling in my freewheel.

Oh, well I'd probably have to see the bike.

Done and done.

I bought a new bike from the LBS and the guy there said they were having a promotional deal and that each of their bikes now came with a complimentary "D0UCHEBAG". So I was wondering what do you do to get rid of this "D0UCHEBAG" and just keep the bike?

Well I saw the "mechanic" of this thread in my LBS when I was buying the bike, but he/she(He?) no wait, SHE (God, I'm confused) wasn't the mechanic. So go figure it out.

Why start a thread when you've got your own sub-forum: https://www.bikeforums.net/bicycle-mechanics/

Such a seasoned mechanic as yourself surely knows that SS/FG bikes are simply bikes nonetheless and subject to the same mechanical issues as any other. In other words, you don't need your own thread. It will become a mess anyway.
