Motobecane 2010 Track
http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...cane/track.htm
Just saw this new bike up on BikesDirect. It's nothing special, but its way cheap, cromo and a good beater bike i guess. No fender mounts, which limits its usability as a beater bike. Comes with REAR break...wtf, weird. For those that care I guess. |
you know, theres already a thread on it.
|
No there isn't.
|
steveymcdubs is right, i searched.

rear brake only is funny.
|
oooh formula undrilled hubs~
why do i think this is a good deal? |
they are so much more aerodynamic.
|
So why this instead of an Hour?
|
WTF? Rear brake only? Its a great deal. For $80 more than a frame at BI, you have a complete bike.
EDIT: Not a Kilo frame, but a stripped down Messanger. |

It is kinda funny; but it is a free throw in item for a track bike. I was able to get a good deal on the specs of this bike with the factory cutting me a nice deal on the rear brake. I thought, what the heck, why not a free brake? I was surprised by the quality and weight of this bike when I saw the sample; crank and CR is very nice, rims seems real nice too We are doing all we can to drive up the spec and drive down the prices on SS/FG bikes. This is a catagory I really like. And my feeling is a $279 delivered price on a full 4130 track bike will meet the needs of lots of buyers. |
with formula hubs? wow! sounds like a great deal
|
how come there is no size bigger than the 58?
|
for people buying, you could just move the brake to the front and cut the cable and housing shorter right?
not a bad deal, and formula hubs. nice move. EDIT: kinda random, but any plans on getting steamrollers in again? my friend is looking to upgrade from his clockwork and I thought the steamroller looked like a good move. also thinking about a kilo frame. |

How's it a junk thread? Plenty of folks here are interested in what BD offers and wants to post about it. I haven't bought anything from them, and yet I have nothing against including them in the discussion. If the thread is redundant (and they often are), I see your point, but this one seems to be new and of some interest.

You cant use a rear brake on the front, the bolt that holds it in place is much shorter. Look at the brake-stay (for lack of better word) on the rear; its just a single, small-diameter tube of steel. The front brake has to basically go through the entire diameter of the headset, much longer.

Did anyone really think that the $350 for a Kilo TT was too much?
|
Awesome deal for a cromo bike, for the same price as a hi-ten Cutter or Draft. Just too bad it isn't a crosstop lever, b/c then you could just pickup the economy track front brake setup and have a fully braked bike for just over $300.
