Amen. I put on pants once in blue moon. When it gets cold the long socks come out, but i will still wear shorts.

I wear Swrve knickers. They look good, are slim so the pockets don't swing their contents around your thighs when you're riding, have back pockets deep enough to fit a mini-U lock, are reinforced in the right areas, comfortable and relatively cheap. I even got a pair of the water resistant ones, and they work really well in the rain. Knickers/shants seem like a pretty good compromise between fashion and function. I'm surprised I don't see more people wearing them.

Don't forget Self Edge's 21oz denim cycling jean.

Haha, yeah sure... $360 and none in stock

Oh it can get pretty damn cold here. Not quite -30C. Good winter days its around -15C or so. But its always so windy. The street we live on has giant soviet built buildings and is like wind tunnel. Makes for fun commutes.

I'm all about cargo shorts, i have probably 10 pairs, longjohns and shorts are what I skate in all winter and often what I ride in because it's just easier

That's what I'm talking about. It's form meets function. |
U-Lock in pocket ≠ function.

I hate seeing crappy Knog lights on peoples' forks. Such a waste. So stupid. All my friends do it, which makes me hate it more.

Aside from when you're riding for exercise or competition (when lycra is proper), why not just wear what cycle-commuters have been wearing over a hundred years: pant-leg straps. (They don't have to be the dorky reflective ones. They cost nothing and they readily fit in your pocket or can be wrapped around your seatpost when you don't need them. )
You can wear whatever pants you want, and you virtually eliminate the risk of getting your pants ripped up in the chain. |

You know, I really like the Knog lights, though. Whether it be MTB, FG, road or otherwise, I always throw them in my jersey back pocket if I'm going out late and the sun may be going down when I'm coming home. But fork mounting them does nothing. |

It's handy there, quick to access for a fast lockup or alternative uses, and in no way impedes riding. It's practical.
Alternative uses = unkind In no way impedes riding = total ****ing lie |
How does having a brake lever on your handlebars where it's supposed to be "impede riding"???

it throws off the symmetrical appeal of the cockpit area.
Edit: he's talking about moshimitsu's post. |
