WTF is that all about?

My brother and I were descending down a fire road as part of our MTB route. Coming the opposite direction was a svelte, older man with a beard and an open jersey climbing and sweating. Both our jaws dropped when we noticed he was wearing a bra.

That wasn't a bra, it's a new design by Camelbak: the Ladylump.

Properly called a Bro. Alternatively, a manziere.

Actually, let's just blame James Hetfield (circa 1986).

Have you been living under a rock for the last 5 years?
Where do you live?

kubrick215 09-04-09 09:19 AM

Worst hipster trend...V-neck t-shirt with superlow collar that V's down below the ribcage. LAME!

jakerock 09-04-09 09:37 AM

Combine that with the capri pant, beard, chain wallet, messenger bag...

Im just getting old I guess, cause I dont get it!
To each his own...

Every one of those things is rather practical.

Also, I prefer the term "shants."

I've had a beard for the past 5 years and yes, it is indeed practical.

I second this (except I've been unshaven since 2001). Practical because razors are damn expensive and shaving sucks.

My now rusty wallet chain (which I've had for many, many years) is also quite practical, because losing my wallet used to be common practice for me.

I'm growing a beard as I type, gotta be ready for the fall season

Walfredo 09-04-09 01:39 PM

I can't fit into my skinny jeans anymore. I hate myself.

TheBikeRollsOn 09-04-09 02:00 PM

To be fair, skinny jeans reduce the likelyhood of getting them caught in the crank, which can be quite catastrophic.

trelhak 09-04-09 03:04 PM

Skinny jeans reduce the likelihood of what getting caught? Your beard? Your wallet chain? Los huevos?

Astronomical 09-04-09 04:06 PM

your pantlegs dummy; no need to roll or tuck or otherwise look like a total fred.

I would rather be total fred with a rolled-up pant leg than wear skinny jeans and a deep-v-neck shirt.

You could even ive me chainring-rash on my exposed calf and I STILL would not wear skinny-jeans.

Scrodzilla 09-04-09 04:45 PM

+1

Also, I hate getting my beard caught in my chain.....

kubrick215 09-04-09 09:17 PM

Used to rock the beard in only cooler months but then realized that it wicks away sweat in the summer. Now it's all beard, all the time!

But then you end up...wearing skinny jeans. My ex-girlfriend convinced me to buy a pair once. I had to buy them in a waist size 3 sizes too big so I could pull them up all the way, and I ended up splitting the seams on the outside of my thighs anyway.

Give me 3/4 hemmed BDU pants any day of the week.

Astronomical 09-04-09 10:44 PM

Skinny jeans keep my dick from getting caught in my drivetrain, man, I used to wear normal pants but then I saw them pictures of fingers caught in fixed drivetrains.

srsly my dick can't be like that.

blickblocks 09-05-09 02:18 AM

Guys arguing the merits of skinny jeans...priceless, you all are.

Anyways, jeans have historically been slim fitting. It's just that recent decades have popularized baggy denim. Women's jeans tend to have much more elastic in the fabric, which make them more comfortable for cycling in. For guys it's probably a good idea not to buy super low cut ones though, or else it'll be too tight for your junk.

Personally I prefer a miniskirt and leggings. They have to be pretty short to not be flapping in the wind or being a mess while spinning, which sometimes is awkward. If I ever actually do get to make apparel, I want to make something between cycling shorts and leggings. Normal shorts are really intense if you're wearing them all day, while at work or whatever.

solbrothers 09-05-09 02:38 AM

riding in jeans is ********. i ride in lycra all the time now.
