Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Just curious..

I would have searched but then I would miss the quality posts such as yours. Outstanding people skills. Does the juvy home still let you ride?

Thanks to all the others though. I may take one for a test ride..

My road bike is quieter than my FG.

Then you should fix your FG. (or the freewheel on your road bike)

My FG is dialed, and I roll Ultegra and Dura-Ace on my road bike = silence. I'm anal about my bikes to a fault.

My XC bike is loud, but at that point I'm more concentrated on getting over two miles of rock garden.

Are there freewheels that don't make a sound? I'm not talking about any sounds the bike shouldn't make, but just the rattling of the freewheel.

About every 2 months some young prick that only been riding for a couple of months, like yourself, that still needs assistance wiping his own arse comes in with nothing to say. Use the back button. It's right next to your glass of milk and cookie right where Mommie left it.

Shimano has the quietest freewheels I know of (not the single freewheels, I'm talking cassettes). Chris King hubs are the noisiest I've heard.

Personally, I don't mind the sound. I just want the best performing part on the market.
