everyone was real nice on this end of campus, except the scalper who got mad about me taking his picture while he broke the law - he was probably already in a bad mood, he still had tickets for sale at kickoff - it was way less crowded than last weekend

same **** happened to me last weekend, I didn't post it 'cause I knew I was going to get tarred and feathered, but **** it, same thing exactly happened to me, guys yelling and talking **** like, "your gay" and "only *****s ride bikes!" then they ran the car right in front of my missing me by inches, stopped and jumped out with tiny baseball bats! like the ones you get free at the ballpark! I quickly drew my Glock and yelled,"I'll ****ing shoot you all if you try to hit me with those ****ing bats!" they immediatly jumped back into the car and hauled ass away from me! Then about a minute later, a Police car pulls up next to me and ask me if I had a permit to carry my Glock! I'm like, yeah!? and show them the permit, they tell me they saw the whole thing from the side street and tell me to be safe as they drive off! I'm saying to myself, WTF! Why didn't they come over when they saw what was happening!? and another thing? why does it seem that every time this kinda **** happens it seems to be college kids?

I know I am a dick. Think about if you were that persons son, brother or father. How would you feel? Death is a realistic part of life, but that does not make it ok to be disrespectful.

I would feel exactly the same way as I've been there, many times, more than most I'd say, and you know what I did? I took it, put it in my mouth, chewed on it for a bit, got the flavor, then spit it out. I went to bed, woke up the next moring, and tried again. But still, if you found my reply to be "disrespectful" well that problem belongs to you, not me.

That's bull ***** man. Not to turn this into a different thread, but I heard this lady yelling for help in the woods by my apartment. Got my baseball bat and saw some guy walking out of the woods with his girlfriend (obviously domestic abuse). Anyways, we called the cops way before that, and they never even showed up. The guy ended up running away with his GF chasing after him.

you carry a handgun when you ride your bike? Do they make those in carbon fiber to reduce weight??? Perhaps I can invent one and market it to cyclists who are sick of being harrassed by cars haha.

Seriously, though, isn't it illegal to whip out a handgun and threaten someone with it? I know you have a right to carry a concealed handgun, but when are you allowed to use it? When are you allowed to show it? I always thought that threatening a person with a gun was illegal, but I guess in your case it could be viewed as self defense.

Well, generally a car has the ability to drive away, where a bike doesn't. So i would say that when a car confronts a bicyclist and they get out with weapons, that that deems self defense measures.
Now if you stopped and confronted a bicyclist, and they pulled a weapon, you don't have the right to pull a gun seeing as you had the ability to flee.

You have to reasonably think that your life is in danger and not have the ability to flee.
Correct me if i am wrong though. I think laws vary, so you may be able to claim self defense in protection of property.

When four guys with bats ( OK, small bats.) come at you wouldn't you feel your life is being threatened? I did, I honestly felt my life was being threatened, so I defended myself by drawing my gun, and I would have most def without a doubt fired a few rounds at them if they would not have turned tail. Not that I don't have a respect for life, just that I'd prefer to take theirs than let them take mine. not only that but you really think I'm going to sit there and recite laws in my head while someone else is about to beat it in?!
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I carry a full sized Glock 21....comfortably.

I would assume you are a responsible gun owner, pulling it out when you truly think something life-endangering is going to happen.

Out of curiosity, where do you live, and what did you do for your permit? I am curious if it is different from state to state. I am 21 in seven days, so I was considering applying for one.

I do not own a gun nor intend to purchase one at this time, though, and I am shipping off to basic for the Navy in ~3-4 months, so it might be pointless.

Currently, I am enlisted for CTT, but I need to take the DLAB, so I can switch over to CTI, which is what I really want.

Hard job. Good luck on your DLAB. Are you pretty good at foreign language?

Yeah, I am. I took the DLAB previously when I was first enlisting. I scored a 96, which pissed me off to no end that day. I know why I failed, though. lol @ failing to read one sentence in the directions during the second section, then unknowingly bombing that whole section, only to have those directions pop up in a later section, then silently cursing yourself while finishing the rest of the test.

No I have thought about doing it after college. Have another year to go. I have read up a bit about the navy so I know enough to know what you are talking about, but not much more.

I am doing it before I go to college, and, honestly, I wish I would have enlisted at 18, just to be able to start sooner.

I'd wait till I was done with the Navy, then if you still want the permit go for it, I'm in Philly but I've had mine for years and just have to renew it every few years, all I did at the start was apply for it at the permits office of the Phila. Police Dept., pay the $19.00, sign a paper allowing the PPD to do a background investigation, then an interview, sound like a lot but it wasn't.
