Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

yup. 14mm socket wrench will fix that problem (provided it is the crank loosening, which it seems to be)

+1 on the 14mm socket. If your crank arm was loose you might have more problems than just a click. You could strip the arm where it connects to the BB spindle.

Tighten the crank arms and if you still have a click then it is probably inside your bottom bracket. I have had that noise before. I serviced the BB and it went away. If you have a cartridge BB that's another story. Unless you have ridden a bajillion miles a cartridge unit shouldn't be worn out.

You might want to check your pedals as well.

I had a clicking problem a few months back, thought it was the right side crank, but it turned out to be the pedal being loose.

The torque spec for that nut (8 mm allen fasteners are also common) is 30 lb/ft. Think of a 30 pound weight hanging off of a foot long wrench. I wouldn't put it off because once the crank arms start to come loose, they booger that square hole and they'll never stay tight after that.
