Sweet!!!! I'll take a Black medium please :)

Think of it this way...for every person wearing one of these shirts, they will have to explain it to at least a few unknowing people every time they wear it. Hence, the legend continues thanks to you.

I'm thinking the black shirt with white and red print may be the way to go. I'll be redoing the color separations, talking to Harris and hopefully have some sort of webstore-type page using PayPal as a secure way to preorder them up by this weekend.

Thanks again to all of you for your input and positive feedback!

riot2003 10-23-09 12:35 PM

I'd like one!

shubonker 10-23-09 12:41 PM

What's wrong with Obey?

destikon 10-23-09 01:02 PM

I'd like either one, honestly. Since I'd wear this on the bike, white would be more useful for me as I live in SoCal and ride in the hot sun. That said, if you only did black, I'd still buy it.

Just don't make the design ridiculously huge if it's on the front, please.

Sheldon would never, ever tell anyone to obey him, that's why. It's completely out of character.

Great point.
maybe an 8 X 12 or something like that.

Scrodzilla 10-23-09 01:20 PM

I agree about huge prints being pretty lame and yeah, the whole OBEY thing is pretty played out. I wasn't really thinking too much about it when I initially printed it for myself and my friends. My original post shows the actual print on a size medium shirt. I'll keep it that size (about 8x14").

You guys rule.

I'd buy stickers of that design too, btw. Sized to go halfway around a typical steel frame seat tube would be perfect. Another one about 4-5" tall would go on the back of my car instantly too.

Scrodzilla 10-23-09 01:38 PM

Stickers is a great idea and I have means to do that inexpensively as well!

Triple8Sol 10-23-09 04:40 PM

I'd rock it...with the RIDE lettering.

Halfmast 10-23-09 05:05 PM

kickass.

I'm overwhelmed by the response this is getting.

Color separations with the "RIDE" text are done for both black and white shirts (I prefer white shirts when I'm out riding on hot summer days too), I will discuss the matter of donating the proceeds either to help keep sheldonbrown.com running or to a foundation Sheldon would have approved of with Harris Cyclery this weekend (hopefully they won't say no!) and will most likely have a PayPal-ready webstore set up to take pre-orders within the next few days. Stickers, as schnee suggested, are also a possibilty and I'd be into hearing some more feedback.

What I'm thinking is to accept preliminary orders for a week or so and do my initial print run to match the number of shirts sold...that way I'm not sitting on boxes of unsold shirts. Turnaround time will still be relatively quick because I will be printing them in-house at my shop. If you miss the pre-order cutoff, I'll do the same in the future...maybe monthly if the demand is there.

Cost-wise, I am thinking that $12 post-paid will be ideal ($15 foreign). I know I originally said I would like to keep them at 10 bucks or under but I'm figuring that charging $12 will cover cost of the shirts (blank black shirts are a little more costly than white), materials, postage and there will end up being between $2-4 per shirt sold to donate. After I sit down and do the actual math and talk to Harris, it may end up that 10 bucks each will be a possibility after all. I'd like to keep them as low-cost as possible as still be able to turn out a good donation per shirt.

Screenprinting, while my profession, is something I enjoy doing on a daily basis and I am not looking to profit from these shirts, but rather spread some good vibes to others passionate about riding bikes. I've learned a lot right here on BikeForums and from Sheldon Brown and I believe that giving some back every now and again promotes healthy mojo.

Thanks again, everyone!

:D

Absolutely, brother.

Just figured I'd give everyone interested a little heads up and a preview of my makeshift little webstore. Orders can't be placed just yet as I'm waiting for a quote from my source for stickers (they're an odd size) before putting anything up for sale but I should be able to start taking pre-orders as soon as early this coming week. All prices reflect a pretty decent amount to be donated per shirt and there will be no additional charge for shipping in the Continental US.

Check it out here:

As soon as things go on sale, you'll be first to know.

Thanks again to all of you. You guys rock.

adriano 10-25-09 07:08 AM

Scrodzilla 10-25-09 07:44 AM
