Chain compatability question

Hey guys ...

This is a pretty n00b question, but here goes:

Can I run a 1/8" chain on my freewheel which is supposed to be for 3/32" chains? I think the answer is yes, but I wanted to check.

Bigger chain on smaller teeth is fine. Other way around doesn't work so hot.

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

As long as it's a single freewheel. If you have multiple cogs the chain won't seat properly.

I have a 1/8" chain on a 1/8" chainring and 3/32" freewheel. Works fine.

There is a bit more to it. If you are running a 3/32" chain, you want an 8-speed (or 7 or 6... anything lower)--- not a narrow 9-10-11-12 speed chain.
