How Long Before B43 with Braking Surface?
^what that says. i like riding with a front brake. anyone know?
|
You can use it a brake with it, with limited (if any) loss of power.
I switched front wheels from machined dp18 to a non machined deep v, and I can stop essentially just as fast with the non machined deep v. |
i don't feel like stripping the paint off.
|
you don thave to
the brake will for you |
^haha, that's what i meant.
|
why does it matter?
i hope they never do ill just repaint my wheels when it wears through. |
it matters because i want to be able to brake well and because i don't want my brakes to be stripping paint off of my rim. they have braking surfaces for a reason.
|
you can brake just as well as with a machined surface
I have deep section wheels (CandyRim) with paint, and i can stop just as fast as with normal wheels. it still works, its just loud and annoying you can see where it is rubbing http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2630/...c6fd20caf7.jpg |
Roller brake front hub?
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2159/...8eb06199_o.jpg (i think some of there can be used with forks that don't have disc mount tabs) |
^yeah great...
can someone just answer my question? |
yeah
Velocity DO we look like we work for velocity, or anyone here that is in RND is for velocity? this is a case where you need to email them directly, or humor us |
You want to look cool without shedding performance? Impossible.
|
What is the difference between stripping paint off the rim and having a machined rim in the first place? Either way, you'll have a braking surface.
|
I think the B43 may actually have reduced braking performance; not because of the finish, but because of the shape. Deep Vs have a rim plane that's parallel to the braking surface, but I don't think the same is true of B43s. Eventually the pad would wear with the rim, but until then your braking power might be limited.

That being said, I'm wondering if you can adjust the brake pads to have a slight amount of tilt so it can make full contact with the rim. Most brake pads these days have those rounded backs so you can adjust for toe-in...they might have up and down adjustment in addition to front and back...? |
Seems to me that it'd be against the whole idea of those rims to give them a braking surface.

B43's with MBS???
they are called h+son HL42. |
yeah h+son rims have had an option for braking surface since their release, and are far lighter than a b43 rim, and are the same price now too.
|
Also there's these

does anyone actually sell h+sons? i can only find formation face hoops...can't even find *sl42's.
