it matters because i want to be able to brake well and because i don't want my brakes to be stripping paint off of my rim. they have braking surfaces for a reason.

you can brake just as well as with a machined surface
I have deep section wheels (CandyRim) with paint, and i can stop just as fast as with normal wheels.
it still works, its just loud and annoying
you can see where it is rubbing

DO we look like we work for velocity, or anyone here that is in RND is for velocity?
this is a case where you need to email them directly, or humor us

I think the B43 may actually have reduced braking performance; not because of the finish, but because of the shape. Deep Vs have a rim plane that's parallel to the braking surface, but I don't think the same is true of B43s. Eventually the pad would wear with the rim, but until then your braking power might be limited.

That being said, I'm wondering if you can adjust the brake pads to have a slight amount of tilt so it can make full contact with the rim. Most brake pads these days have those rounded backs so you can adjust for toe-in...they might have up and down adjustment in addition to front and back...?
