Help determinig which for to use.

Let me start off by apologizing for my crude way in doing this. I am horrible at photoshop so this was the next best thing. I am building a new bike and the frameset comes with a color matched fork. I like the purple fork but am contemplating using a chrome lugged fork instead. I have 2 pedalmafia renditions of this and wanted to ask your opinion.

Which do you guys like better. I think they both look good so I dont know.

Persoanlly, I would go for all purple frame & fork. To me, purple with some silver and chrome components goes together well but a purple frame/chrome fork seems mismatched (unless, of course, there are hints of chrome on the frame itself).

It's kinda like if I were to put a chrome fork on my bike, it would most likely be very out of place even though I have some silver/chrome parts.

You build awesome bikes, man. Can't wait to see pics.

There is no chrome on the frame. I wish there was. I really like the all purple but was just trying to get out of threading another fork. It sucks. The chrome fork is already cut and threaded. Who knows, the chrome one might be to short.

I think I agree with you though. The purple looks good.

I like Pake frames too. Solid as all hell. I wanted to buy one for a while but couldn't find a "dirty gold" one in my size.

I already have the parts.

Parts list:

Mavic Reflex rims w/ Formula hubs and DT Swiss spokes
Shimano Dura-Ace cog and lockring
Continental Giro tublars
Sugino RD2 crank with 103mm bb
MKS Track pedals
MKS L clips with leather
MKS leather straps
Tange headset
Nitto Dynamic stem
Nitto RB-021 bars
Nitto Dynamic 626 seatpost
Soma Okami saddle
Silca bar tape

Undecided on chain right now. My drivetrain is set up 3/32" and I dont want to go 1/8" so im looking for a nice chain to fit. Im thinking a shimano 9sp chain to rid myself of the masterlink. Iv used sram 9sp chains with master links on fixed gear bikes with no issues but I might try something else this time around.

Oh and the only sticker that will be on the bike is the Tange tubeset decals on the seat tube and the fork legs.

go with the chromed fork. As long as there are other chromed/silver parts on the bike, the chromed fork will be bad ass. I did this with a black Pake on a build, and it looked really good.

Black/chrome is a different animal than purple/chrome.

I think a chrome fork looks good on any bike, especially deep hued solid colors.

Chrome fork. Then polish the seatpost and stem to match it.

It would look really nice if you could get the back half of the seatstays and chainstays in chrome too. I'm always a sucker for those kinds of frames.

I'll reserve final judgement until I see it, but I personally think it will look tacky.
