Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? umm, what?!

ok, so am i crazy or is this person smoking lots of crack? 2,500 buy it now price? even with good components, there is no excuse for selling a surly steamroller for that amount of money. maybe its the "extras" thats jacking the price up. i just noticed its in my neck of the woods.

Well, I'd be inclined to think he's just pricing his bike. No bid history may indicate he doesn't want to develop a string of bad reviews from bidders, and with prices like that he may just be moving down the pay scale until he starts getting bids. That being said, it may get a 1k+ bid.

It may be high but he's throwing in some pretty top-drawer parts: two wheelsets (Suzue high flange is probably ProMax, could be better even), Dura Ace and NJS components. All that stuff is easily more than 1K new, but 2500 might be a stretch since you could probably buy all those parts for less, but hey, you'd have to build it.

i don't think they're promax. most folks use that as a selling point. they're probably basics. and most of the other stuff on that bike _might_ end up close to a grand, if you didn't shop around for deals. i think he may just be testing the waters. it'll be relisted next week with a reasonable price, more than likely...

Isn't even $1000 pushing it for a used steamroller? Even with decent components?

I guess if you are testing the waters... but still the reserve hasn't even been met.

Ah, thanks. I'm guessing the non-wow factor here is because the frame is a Surly - if this was some other "real" track frame, it might be worth it.

Useless, why even bother having a reserve. No way in hell i'd buy that for $1k.
