I think they are worth whatever you are willing to spend for them,look at comic books,the price does not reflect what people pay.

expensive rims have their place, as do $120 brake levers. bfssfg is not the place though.

Something you're not realizing about carbon levers is that they don't get cold the way steel levers do. You'd appreciate this if you rode in the cold weather frequently. My Tektro levers get downright icy when it's cold, even on days when its not quite chilly enough to put on the whole "cold weather" outfit. If they made the R100 with caarbon levers I'd buy it.

if it's that cold shouldn't you be wearing gloves anyway?

I always wear gloves, but usually fingerless. If its going to be the "cold weather" gloves its got to be real cold. I'm talking about when its comfortable outside, but the levers are uncomfortably cold. Maybe its just a Vermont thing.

Both, It's not a fixie it's a single speed and I have major hillage in my hood.

I know this thread is old, but if any of you people are still here, (I dont recognize the names anymore, except for adriano) do your S500 levers rattle? I just installed mine, and there is a really annoying rattle coming from the levers. Does anyone have this problem?

I don't have the 500's but I do have the 900's and they don't rattle at all. ( think the only difference is the lever material) Is there enough tension in the cable? Is it attached to the bar tightly enough? That's all I can think of..

Coming from Shimano levers on my other bikes I was afraid that dropping the bike on its side might damage or loosen the levers because they don't pivot in to shift like the STIs. The rest of my bike is bombproof but the levers seem more delicate and I have been extra careful.

Mine don't rattle either. Did you attach both levers to brakes? I only attached the left and had to jury-rig the right with an elastic to keep it "spring-loaded".

Also did you try adjusting the reach? Perhaps if they are completely extended they are more likely to rattle?

I have one complete set, brand new in the box, sitting in my parts bin. Got them for a build that never happened. I also have a front S900 on my cyclocross bike, paired with a Force rear shifter. For a 1x10 setup, it was cheaper to get a front S900 and a rear Force shifter/brake lever than it was to buy a pair of Force shifters and have the front shifter just flopping around with nothing attached to it.

Sram brake-only levers are nice and are a match ergonomically to Sram shifters, making them great for 1x10 setups. I chose the S900 to make the carbon lever of the Force shifter. I guess it's lighter than the S500 too, but whatever.

I use a left one on my 1x10 Cx bike, and no issues with rattling. Are the levers shifting at all?
