I've seen dozens of "which bars/pedals/frame/bike/seat/cog" threads, but don't really recall any about training, nutrition, or anything to do much with rider performance. And no, "How do I do nutz2bars skidz" doesn't count.

Go back and read my original post (#21). I'm not disputing what you are saying about the majority of posters on this or other forums, just expressing my take on the subject as someone who actually rides and races bicycles and has been doing this longer than most on this forum have been alive. I also enjoy motorcycles, BTW. There are others in this thread who are like minded, although I agree that the majority more readily conform to your characterization.

I don't think so, just seasonal variation

if you look at this winter and last winter, its almost the same, when linear fit is positive, that means it may have just reached its peak

its dieing out here too, half the ppl at my school stopped riding, only a few of my friends and i still ride

EDIT: ohh but those people who stop riding were a buncha hipsters, that spend crap loads on their bike, one guy had loads of money, even had dura ace hubs laced to black b43's which i see no real point of, since all he did was trick.

I don't think hipsters were ever into fixed gears.

I think you guys just like to flatter yourselves.

lots of catagories now get search results; that all relate to the overall SS/FG trend

bikesdirect_com 01-10-10 10:21 AM

seems that if you consider all related catagories; SS/FG is still growing

I think it's going though the "culling process". So more good bunch get stay at it. I mean you should see some of "fail" people out-there. I would be horrified if I ever had to ride with em. ... I won't be surprised to see a brakeless wannabe who can't skid / skip, today. Total laugh.

P.S. I am a brakeless wannabe who put on brakes anyway.

i'm cool now since i ride fix gear, but if it dies as all fads does. i will switch to single speed. yay i will still be cool no matter what!

i'm secured for 2010

I know what is over --> the idea that riding a fixed gear will make others think that you are a hipster.

FG for some (like me) is like riding BMX without the disadvantage of having to look like a ****** on his kid brother's tiny bike. With the introduction of frames like the cutter and the star****ers xenon, those of us who used to have fun riding wheelies and barspinning can do it again on an actual bike that can go places. And that's not a bad thing, IMO.

well said.

No, but you can describe it in vague, non offensive terms.

In the good-ol' days we were much braver than that. We would just post it, and deal with the consequences. Which, depending on the mod that passed by at the moment, would range from none to being banned, to post being deleted, to thread being deleted, to this moderator stalking you and deleting each and every one of your posts, mindlessly - this last kind of moderator is also known as ******bag.

EDIT: what were we talking about?
