Bikes: Crosslake Aluminum Track

Serial #?

Hey i just got a sweet (aluminum, i think) track frame, used, from an LBS. It looks really good, but the guy working there said they didn't know where it came from, and theres no stickers, but the serial number is still on the BB.

Is there a way to use the serial # to identify a manufacturer, or are they pretty much useless? How can I tell who made this frame?
