Yeah of course bikes will get wet and I'm okay with that, it's just that he said it could rust easier and I'd rather not have that happen lol.

Then look harder, homie. It's in the Catalog, on page 56.

get the white.. more flexible when you decide to start swapping out stuff. Otherwise, with the riser model, you're stuck with blue accessories/components.

Yeah screw the blue

I think the saddle is fine, but white saddles can get bluejeans rubbing off on them.

As for the rust thing, i think it just means that if you nick the clearcoat, it might be a little more prone to rust in that spot than if there was paint underneath as well. I don't think it's a huge deal, it's just something that gave me pause when I was looking.

I don't think anything but woundedknee said "The white bike looks pretty nice to me except for that saddle. Ew. "

I personally think that both of the bikes are put together perfectly.

They did a great job on these bikes.

I would say white. Though if I was willing to drop that much money, I would probably try build my own if it wasn't my first bike. If it was my first, I would buy an unbranded(or branded whatever your preference) Kilo TT to get used to fixed and develop my tastes.

It sounds like you need to stop worrying about all the nit picking and what everyone else thinks about the bike or the saddle or any of that. Use your head and pick the one you like. Just think about it, I'm sure you're smart enough to think about it. It's a little silly that this thread has gone on so long.

Screw the kilo. Try to piece together a kilo frame with this bike's parts, Im pretty sure it'll cost more. And you'll be riding a Kilo. Nothing against Kilo owners, I just think they're more of a starter or budget or beater bike. They got some junk parts. If you got the cash for the masi and you're ok with it getting dirty I say go for it. And you'll be supporting a LBS.

The Nekkid finish is very sweet in person. I seriously doubt it is prone too rust anymore that a normal paint job. I had last years model for a while and was very impressed with the quality. I think the component spec is decent for the price. Only reason I got rid of it was that it was too small (inpulse buy) and I change bikes like I change underwear. You will have to lose the saddle which ever color you go with, it was quite the ass hatchet and flexed way too much.

The drops would sell for more than the risers after you take them off.

Am I the only one who notices that they aren't risers, they are flat bars. Risers have rise. Hence the name.

I was only suggesting it for a beginner bike(though your thing says you ride Fxd '86 Bianchi Strada LX the way your question was originally posed I thought it would be your first). I was reluctant to buy one at first, but I realized that I didn't have the free time to do enough research that I felt comfortable buying all of the parts that go towards building a bike. Assuming this isn't your first though, I would still argue that if looks, style, and a certain level of uniqueness is a priority to you that you build your own. If that doesn't suit you, just choose whether you like blue or white more.. it seems pretty simple to me.

Yeah the Kilo is fine for people to get on the road quickly and see if it (fixed, biking, whatever) is for them. I just think if people go into it with the plan to replace everything on it, they find themselves dropping $1k anyway. Completes are the best deal, so why buy everything twice? Personally I would plan to have to drop $150+ right off the bat on a Kilo (MKS setup and a saddle) just to get it where I want it upfront. Plus if he likes the ride of the Masi, the Kilo is kind of a gamble, there's no guarantee he'll even like the ride. With the local bike you get a [theoretically] more professional build, and he can go in and ask as many questions as he wants (of a real person), and he can get immediate support if anything goes wrong.

I'm pretty shure I'm going to go with the blue one. It will stay, or at least look, cleaner longer.

And yeah, I realized that they were flats, but the site labels the model as Riser so I didn't want to cause confusion.

How long have you been lusting after this bike? i guarantee you that if you don't buy it but "sleep" on it for a cpl weeks (meanwhile looking at and researching other bikes) you will NOT end up buying it. Plus, didn't you post a pic of one of these with a lugged frame on a diff post? The lugged frame with those colors really appealed to me but either of the bikes you posted on this thread do it for me. Actually, i think they're both super lame. And, as others have pointed out, for $700+ you can find a WAAAAY nicer and cooler bike. If you're patient (which i see you are not) you could prolly even find one of those nicer $700 bikes on craig's list for half that price (i got my steam roller for $350). I've even seen cooler conversions on cl for half that. My two cents.

I have a thing; if I purchase a high-value item, it has to be new. I don't want to buy used. I don't feel like it's mine.

And why does everyone just say, "Oh there's better bikes", but no one tells me what those bikes are?

Have a suggestion, let me hear it, please.
