I like my Aerospoke and I'm not apologizing for it.

Ummm... The wheel in this photo is ruined, isn't it? Looks to have been taco'd. There's a deep fold/crease at the 8:00 position of the rim, and the spokes at 10:00-11:00 are bent, which suggests that the rim is bent.
It really doesn't look to me like the aluminum wheel fared any better than the carbon fork.

Don't care for them, but don't hate them. I think they look really bad ass on some bikes, it works well on OP's bike, but other times it looks like crap. I wouldn't ride one though, they're just not for me.
I wouldn't say one fork is stronger than the other from the photos just because one snapped. They're both ****ed, but steel is malleable and CF isn't.

The rim is bent, yes, but the wheel maintained an approximately round shape with the hub in the middle of it, it didn't shatter. To be honest, I really didn't care what the fork was, on that photo - the fork broke in spite of being (supposedly) a more solid piece of equipment, than a, laced wheel. Chances are an aluminum fork would have broken or bent very considerably, too. The photo is not a carbon vs. steel statement, it's about laced wheels surviving serious impacts.

You know what? I can agree with that. The wheel should be thrown away, sure. It's still a tough piece of equipment. When I had my "big accident", the frame was bent, even the rails on the seat, but the front wheel didn't even suffer a roundness deformation - I laced it myself, trued it right and never had to true it again. Barely had to true it after the accident (which I was only able to do after my both arms healed, both shattered, including my zygomal bone - it was full frontal brutality).

I wish I had more money for some really kick-ass wheels that I could act snobby about. But I don't. So I'm rockin' a mis-matched low-rent DA22 and Velocity Deep V combo. At least I can get the ugly stickers off my DA22 - maybe I'll do that tonight.

We had a little midwest get together for some polo in Chicago this last weekend and one of the Minneapolis players had two "prototype" aerospoke wheels, for polo.
They had thick plastic covers over the wheels.
I really don't know what to say about the whole thing, I dont think I'd like to play on one of those but, it didnt break in 2 days of pretty rough play, and it makes a great sound when a ballnails it.

dumbest ****ing thing i've ever heard. "hey i see you've figured out how to fit yourself on your bike, but you gotta flip that stem if you want the bike to meet my standards."
and i'm pretty sure a "roadie" doesn't give a **** what their bike looks like when they're going 80+ miles every ride. idiot.

I've always liked those big spoked wheels. That's what I want to get once I upgrade to a better bike
