Chain for SS Bike

Hi. I'm converting my 10 speed into a single speed bike. What long of a chain do I need? How many links do I need?

a chain for multispeeds (3/16") should do.
I have no clue how many links you'll need, since that is a variable number.

So, I would be looking for a 1/2 x 3/16 chain?

Pitch is standardized, so you really just have to worry about width. Some people convert singlespeeds to 1/8" chain because you can, but unless you have a burning desire to do that just use standard multispeed chain.

3/16" is massive. I think you mean 3/32".

OK. Which size should I get? 1/2 x 1/8 or 1/2 by 3/16

Length is not really a problem, you usually always end up with extra links when buying a package of chains as long as you're not running a literally insane gear ratio.

Bikes: 34 frames + 80 wheels

Just get a 1/2 x 1/8. It'll work with any and all chainrings and cogs.
