Looking to get a single speed. Im want something that is light (but not carbon fiber) and say under $800. Cheaper would be better but looking for quality. Recommendations opinions etc welcome

kilo tt is the only one from bikesdirect worth buying if you bring it into your local bike shop after and have them install a free wheel for you.
should be less than ~$30

A good quality lighter frame would be the Kilo TT / Kilo TT Stripper
But it does have a tight geometry that might result in toe overlap
If you want a relaxed ride, you can choose between the Windsor The Hour / Dawes SST / Motobecane Track

Bikes: 34 frames + 80 wheels

A little above your price range, but very light and customized to your liking is the Wabi Lightning:

Bikes: 2009 Schwinn Cutter

I think the San Jose and the Masi Speciale Commuter are the best single speed bikes for about $800. However I am not sure if you want something appropriate for the track.

You beat me to it. Of course, he could get the Classic and still be around 18 lbs.

Well as being as you clearly know nothing about bikes, your opinion is pretty worthless. (You can't take single speed bikes on the track).

This is probably the best deal on a Single Speed road bike, the Dawes SST AL. A good aluminium frame, carbon fork, decent wheels and cranks. Only $370. Sold out at the moment (for good reason).

Or you can get one on craigslist for a give away price of $600

lol!
