Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Problem solved.

Problem solved.

Seriously, I don't want to personally attack anyone here, but to lock a thread because the word "fail" is in the title seems a bit much.

Maybe in the future we could just be presented a list of acceptable thread titles, starter comments and replies, for example:

Title:
  • What is the best bike
  • Will this bike make a good conversion?
  • Why can't I skid?

Thread starters:
  • Hi, I'm new to biking can anyone recomment the best ______ to get started? I only have _____ to spend.
  • I've got a _________ that some guy sold me out of the back of his trunk. Said he had an extra after a bike store delivery. Will this make a good conversion?
  • How hard to I have to press my nutz against the stem to get the bike to skid?

Acceptable responses:
There, now nobody will get their feelings hurt.

Maybe there should be an Adult Forum for those of us who grew up at some point in our lives.

Does calling someone's bike a "fail" make you feel cool?

Yes, I need to validate my existence by identifying other's failures.

pointing out other's failures always makes you feel better! or at least, the other person feel worse. which is pretty much the same thing, right?

Yep, same thing. Whatever it takes to make me feel better than the other. You figured me out.

Hijacking threads is awesome. Seriously. What's even better is hijacking a hijacked thread.

It's called Schadenfreude.

We should combat this sickness by starting a "Wow, I really like what you did to your bike!" thread. Resurrect all the Tarck bikes and say something nice about each of them.

Those red rims and tires are totally cool!! Awesome, dude!
